Psychology of Interiors

is a boutique  STYLING  firm.

We specialize in visual curation in the home.

ABOUT

Psychology of Interiors

Some of my most profound moments and biggest life decisions were found by the sea. This endeavor was no different. In a moment on the beach, I left the world of psychotherapy behind and blended my love of beauty and home and dreamt up a styling boutique, in my mind.

I quit my job the next day, and the firm was born.

STYLING

We believe that everyone is creative and our home is the epicenter of our lives and that beauty matters.

We are on a mission to help anyone that needs our service to style their home. What makes us different, is that we try to use the pieces in the home and we do our best to minimize any purchases.

We find what is aesthetically pleasing and curate the right decorative elements.

We work with you in creating visual appeal by assessing your furnishings, lighting, color pallets used in each room.

Together we gain traction by removing items that you have outgrown and rearrange items that you love.

We work directly with the homeowner to add pieces from past generations if you so desire but most of all we try to create the mood you want for your home.

We believe, aligning your home with your mind creates an abundant opportunity to flourish.

Interior design entails structural and technical improvements in the home; they renovate to code and work directly with contractors.

We do not offer any interior design services mentioned above. We are strictly a styling company.

HISTORY

As a child, my mother found humble ways to bring beauty into the home.

She always had linen napkins on the table during every meal, even if it was cereal. This tiny gesture had a big impact on me. Beauty mattered. I mattered. It was my home, not just my house. There was a whole lifetime of these tiny glimmers that created the tapestry in my mind and taught me what beauty was. It all began there in a small East Coast town by the sea.

Many years later, I experienced the world of aesthetics in new ways. I worked for an interior design firm in NYC which informed my sense of space, textiles, and layout. Then a French fashion house taught me how color, texture, metals, and audacity inspired a sense of awe and wonder during every runway show.

After a radical career change, I moved into psychotherapy and I realized my client's interior life was reflective in their home.

As a social scientist, I observed that when they changed their environment, they healed in some way.

Not everyone needs healing, but everyone needs beauty.

Let's cast out into the deep, and breath champagne air into your home.

What makes us different?

Kristen's styling firm uses items from one's home and her unique offering and trained ear helps her discern where the client wants to go within her home. This is not a trendy, fast, expensive service. It is meant to be thoughtfully curated, so the client feels seen and has a real sense of ownership in creating their home environment. Kristen's goal is to provide tools so the client can change their own space as they wish from time to time. Kristen is willing to do simple consultations by phone or in person for flash styling.

She is currently taking clients so please email her directly to get started with a one-hour complementary deep dive where she spends most of the session learning about you and what you want out of your life.

You have to go looking for them, they're not just lying around on the surface." - Sir Kenneth Robinson
